boston marathon

Ron became the first Briton to win the Boston Marathon in a record time of 2hrs 10mins 30 secs.

1970

Ronhill brand founded

Later that year Ron officially founded the Ronhill brand.

1970

Commonwealth games

To cap off a defining year for Ron, he won the Commonwealth Games marathon in Edinburgh in a new PB of 2hrs 9mins 28 secs.

1971

Ground breaking products

Through his life as a world class distance runner, Ron developed the Split Racer Short and Mesh Vest, inspiring a new wave of design in running clothing

1972

The World famous trackster is born

In 1972 Ron launched the Trackster - a functional running pant with heel stirrups that grew in popularity throughout the 70's and 80's.

1975

Ron Hill Sports

With the business growing, Ron opened his first shop in Hyde, Cheshire.

1980

Scotchlite reflective clothing

Ron introduced Scotchlite into a range of reflective running jackets and tights

1981

New York and Boston

The popular New York and Boston ranges were launched.

1983

London Marathon official kit

Ronhill produces the official kit for the London Marathon.

1984

The Storm GOre tex jacket

Ron designed the Storm Jacket - a waterproof running jacket using Gore Tex.

1987

Ronhill launch running shoes

The brand introduced a range of running shoes into the UK market.

1992

Hilly is founded

After selling the Ronhill brand, Ron launched Hilly, producing running socks and accessories.

1995

Twin Skin launch

The double layer sock was developed and launched and continues to be a runners favourite.

2001

Women's apparel

Ronhill launches the women's running category

2004

Hi-viz collection

Ronhill launches the Hi-viz collection using reflective fabrics for night time visibility.

2014

World record for Dr Ron Hill

Ron celebrates 50 years of not missing a day's running and is recognised as a world record.

2015

#RunEveryDay Challenge

Ronhill launches the October challenge to mark Ron's world record.

2018

Dr Ron Hill turns 80

Ron celebrated his 80th birthday.

The ronhill brand turns 50
